ISO45001 – status
ISO45001 has now been approved as a Draft International Standard (DIS). The next stage is a FDIS and then ISO standard anticipated by October 2016. Around the world 2.3 million people die every year due to work related injuries and ill health. This translates to FOUR deaths every minute and 4% of the world’s GNP being lost due to work-related accidents and diseases, and is in addition to the more than 300 million non-fatal accidents (ILO)
Safety is non-negotiable; we all want to go home as safely as when we arrived for work. ISO45001 will be the tool for ethical companies to implement sound Health & Safety systems and demonstrate to stakeholders that they care for their employees, visitors and contractors.
